The HTFAR Story

It all started about 12 years ago. As a bit of a joke.

Three friends met, became fast BFFs, and said to each other, “I can take you anywhere.”

Unfortunately, they noticed that some of their friends could not be trusted to have manners, be cool, or wear the right things. One friend in particular, we’ll call her Pamela, was a true inspiration. They realized she just didn’t know How To Fucking Act Right or HTFAR. HTFAR became something of a mantra and definitely an inside joke.
By the time one of the girls got married, they realized that the world needed a guide on How to fucking act right. So, the friends made one. And here you are.

So, What is HTFAR?

You’ll find manners for people who sometimes over do it at a party, often swear, and understand the difference between when you must follow all of the “etiquette rules” and when you should throw them out the fucking window.

We offer guidelines rather than hard and fast rules (although complaining about free cake is a hard and fast no. As is making fun of people at the gym, wearing a white lace dress to a wedding, and that kindness and compassion are always more important than manners!)

We understand this, we are realistic, we have fun (too much, some might say), and we know how to act right. We also know when acting right isn’t important.

In a world with faux etiquette and stuffy rule books on one end and general assholes who don’t know how to act right on the other, we hope we can provide some middle of the road advice with a bit of fun and the occasional swear word.

Got a problem? Have a friend who just doesn’t know HTFAR? Got a coworker that is the worst? Send us a note. We will happily dedicate a post (and then send a personalized email or note) to them.

Where to go from here?
